In February 2008, I travelled from London to Malaysia for 4 weeks holidays (Don't jealous, actually I have 9 weeks holiday in one year). My sister and I made a special trip to Hong Kong to celebrate my "Big" birthday, look at my lovely photos, you can guess I am still very young............. ha ! ha! ha!
What I really missed Hong Kong's food was the "wan tan" prawn soup noddle, we tried in few places including in Macau. The noddles were kind of "Q Q" when you bite them, and the seafood taste of soup base was just unbelievable tasty. It only cost HK15.
We stayed in Hong Kong Island, the Pacific Island Hotel, where just a bit in west site, but only two stops (train) from Central MRT. Actually the hotel where we stayed was not too expensive, it cost £162 for 4 nights and 2 person sharing, the hotel was quite clean and staff were friendly. The area was just not far from the hotel where we just walked a few yard to got the tram to "Central", and we can viewed a lot of dry seafood shops. To be honest the transportation in Hong Kong is just so convienence, cheap and clean if compare to London that expensive, stuffy, unreliable and always on strike during summer time.
Lan Kwai Fong where a lot of bars or restaurants, a lot of tourists or celebrities like to spend their happy hour time there. The first night after our first meal to celebrate my birthday, we walked around Lan Kwai Fong. The first dinner meal was quite expensive, it cost me HK450 for only three dishes, even worse that the foods were not really special and nice. Actually this restaurant was recommeded by the tourist book and friends. Well it looked posh, but I think this restaurant only for well off people or tourist. You know what I filled in the suggestion form to complaint the service and food, but till no news from them, well the form must be ended up in the bin. On the whole trip, I still prefered the local food places i.e family type restaurant food.
We made a day trip to Macau. My sister tried her luck in Casino, for sure only for fun.
My sister would not missed her chance to go to Wong Tai San Temple to pray and make blessing for her family and husband's business. I am a christian, so I was only there for sightseeing and enjoyed the culture.
The night view in Hong Kong Island, it around 9pm.
